A Federal Capital Territory (FCT) High Court has fixed March 3, 2022, for the hearing of a suit filed by the President of One Love Foundation, Chief Patrick Eholor, challenging the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Muhammed Bello and Nigeria Police Force for banning protests in Abuja.
The activist had in the enforcement of fundamental rights suit marked M/10894/2020 filed at the FCT High Court, Apo sued the minister and Nigeria Police.
A statement by Eholor's lawyer, Samuel Ihensekhien, said the case has been scheduled for March 3, 2022, for hearing and adoption of processes by the parties in the case.
Among others, the suit is seeking a declaration that the threat of arrest and detention of the Applicant group member as regard peaceful assembly and protest is unlawful, unconstitutional and a violation of the Applicant's Fundamental Right as guaranteed by sections 36, 401, 34, 35 of the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria 1999 (as amended in 2011).
