A native doctor, identified as Terhemen Iorbee, in the Mbakuha council ward in the Ushongo Local Government Area of Benue State, has allegedly committed suicide by hanging.
According to a report by Punch, the 42-year-old was earlier declared missing before his body was later found hanging on a tree.
The incident said to have happened at the weekend, has since caused confusion and apprehension among residents of the area.
While no suicide note was found to ascertain the cause of the alleged suicide, locals in the area said the deceased had manifested strange behaviours in recent times.
“There is nothing to show the cause of his suicide except the strange behaviours he was displaying a few weeks ago.
“He was a native doctor and married to three wives and had four children,” a source was quoted as saying.
The state Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Catherine Anene, confirmed the deceased native doctor was discovered hanging on a tree.
